6 OFW Gets Houses From Manny Villar
Six overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who tried their luck in a noontime game show on July 25,2009 received surprise gifts from Sen. Manuel Villar Jr. — a house and lot for each of them.
The six winners were Jenny Chan of Manila; Rosemarie Jaca and Hazel Vicente of Romblon; Joanne Sonbise of Parañaque; Sarah Felecio of Negros Occidental; and Marnelli Recabar of Iloilo.

Permanent residency plan for expatriates in Gulf countries
A Saudi official has suggested that foreign workers who have been living in Gulf countries for more than 25 years should be granted free iqamas (work/residence permits) or permanent resident status outside the sponsorship system.
In an interview published in the Arab News newspaper, Saudi Official said, the kingdom should reform the citizenship system to open the way for long-term legal residents to acquire naturalisation.

OFW's Hit Corruption in NAIA
Have P10,000, will travel.
For some overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families, a simple visit to Abu Dhabi or Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) would not be complete without a bundle of money in their pockets.
The money, however, is not for shopping or airfare. It's for immigration personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) who allegedly extort as much as P10,000 from departing OFWs.

Filipino woman held for killing friend of 20years
Its a sad news that one of our kababayans was the suspect of killing a Filipina, her friend for 20 years.
Police in Alkhobar have arrested her for allegedly killing Mrs. Laila Castano a wife of Saudi Aramco employee in abqaiq. She was found lying dead after Rolando Castano arrived from abqaiq after worked hours.
Most of the bystanders were arrested earlier of the killing including Rolando for questioning before before Al khobar police arrested the main suspect.
